Killing 7 Birds With One Stone

Hi Friends! First of all, I want to wish my dear beloved sister, real blood sister, a Happy and Blessed Birthday! I don't know if she reads my blog, but just in case :) Of course, I called her too. I'm really proud of her. She is finishing her Masters (post-grad) soon, and currently lecturing in one of the universities back in my hometown. I hope she gets married soon. She's been with her boyfriend for ages.

Now, back to my update on sleeping under the stars. For the second time, I am abandoning my plan to sleep in the stadium this Friday, because thanks to
Ron, an expert in camping and sleeping under the stars, he has pointed out that I won't be able to see stars in the city, lest in the stadium. And yes, plus the polluted air. And he had so generously offered to take me on one of his camping trips! Isn't that cool? Thanks so much Ron! Truth is, I had never had the opportunity to go camping. I had a few chances, but somehow, I never seemed to be able to go, during my school days. Which explains why I had never had the opportunity to sleep under the stars.

So why the title, you might ask? Of course, everyone has heard of the phrase 'killing 2 birds with one stone', but 7? Even David who slayed Goliath might not be able to do that. I improvised the phrase from 2 to 7 because of the fantastic offer from Ron:

1st bird - Fulfill my dream of sleeping under the stars!

2nd bird - I get to go camping the first time in my life!

3rd bird - I get to meet Ron!

4th bird - First time I meet someone I know from the blogosphere in person!

5th bird - First time I meet a Cambodian, a Canadian, and an accomplished photographer!

6th bird - I get my pictures taken by a professional photographer!

7th bird - I might be able to go camping with my baby the first time ever, provided that she's free! Are girls allowed Ron?

And talk about perfect timing too... that August is the best month to go camping, just when I first arrive in the States! Thanks again Ron, and I sure hope that your offer still stands by then :)

John,
I am relieved and happy that you are going to wait to sleep under the stars! I think you will really like the whole camping thing with Ron. Now you get to look at a map and plan, plan, plan.

Mace = pepper spray not ancient weapon although either would suffice:)

John,
I'm glad you've accepted my invitation to join us for Camp this August. We usually plan a few months before our desired date, but since you're coming from afar, I'm going to push everyone to book time off and secure thier commitments a little earlier this year. I'll post something about camping on my blog in a few days, and also attach some pictures for you to see exactly how my friends and I camp.

Just looked at a map, and I relized that Missouri isn't as far as I thought. So it's a good thing. It's very reachable with car, so I doubt the team will have any objections with going to Missouri. We're always open to new places, so they'll be excited.

Normally, we've never had a girl camp with us before, but maybe this time it'll be OK. We usually "rough it" when we camp, which means no toilet, no shower, now sink--which makes it a bit difficult for a female camper--BUT, she's definately more than welcome. If she does decide to go, I'll let my group know that it's ok to bring thier girlfriends or their wives (so she'll have some company in her tent).

I'm EXCITED!

Inge', you mean that's a brand name for a pepper spray? Ah... I see. Yes, I'm happy and relieved too!

This is so marvellous, Ron! What you are doing are way beyond my expectations, and it's really awesome. Can't think of any other word than awesome :) And I have no problem with "roughing" it :) I'll check with my girl and see if she's keen or free to go or not. And just to let you know that I'll arrive probably between mid- to end-August, not early August. I might be able to arrive earlier, but not so sure, pending my travel arrangements. Will confirm with you the exact date. Thanks so much again, and yes, I'm superexcited too! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm so glad you aren't going to sleep in the stadium! That idea worried me worse than the idea of sleeping on the beach.
I thank Ron for stepping up to the plate and offering you a better deal! You will have the time of your life camping with an experienced camper like Ron. I can't wait to hear all about it!
